We are proud to present
ourselves as God’s Own Craft approved by Government of Kerala SSI Unit. We are
into manufacturing of traditional handicrafts out of which we are specialized in
caparison (nettipattoms) wall hangings much to the delight of elephant
decoration (aanachamayam) lovers.

Unlike the ones made in gold
plated brass bubbles and costing around lakhs of rupees, these caparisons have
been fashioned out of High Impact Polymers (HIP). The polymer caparisons are
light, cheap, long-lasting, user-friendly and maintenance free. A brainchild of
Rajiv Nair, the elephant chamayam is a highly skilled work involving dedication,
expertise and ritualistic perfection. Apart from manufacturing the nettipattoms,
God’s Own Crafts also manufactures other related items used for decorating
elephants like Venjamaram, Aalavattom, Tusk, Festival umbrella etc.
Gods Own Crafts today has the
workforce of around 80 excellently skilled traditional craftswomen and has a
production of about 350 pieces of art works per month. So far we have produced
more than 3000 pieces which have found wide appreciation worldwide. God’s Own
Crafts is an approved by the Govt. of Kerala SSI unit.
About
Caparison (Nettipattom)
From time
immemorial, caparisons or “chamayam” have stood out as gems of tradition
representing God’s own country, Kerala. These decorative pieces that adorn the
head of elephants during festivals are surely symbols of peace, success and
wealth. In the olden days, caparisons were made of pure gold.
Typically
used as materials to adorn the elephants, today, this metaphor of prosperity is
extended to homes, star hotels, corporate houses and offices. Bearers of
intricate designs, the patterns are symbolic of the ancient astrological art and
convey a lot of deep-rooted Indian philosophies. The caparison also has a
representative symbol for the prominent characters of Hindu mythology.
Being a
very auspicious craft, caparisons are supposed to be made with ample purity of
body, heart and mind. This delicate frontlet of the elephant is said to
represent 33 crores Gods and Godesses. Along with them, representative symbols
of Trimurthy, Pancha Bhootham, Navagraham, Moolaganapathy and center of the
universe Sun, is also carved.
